Nawabpur Government High School (NGHS), established in 1935, is one of the oldest and most respected public secondary schools in Old Dhaka. Originally founded as Priyonath High School by philanthropist Priyonath Pal of Bikrampur, it was nationalized and renamed in 1951. The school is located at 34–38 Kaptan Bazar, Wari, Dhaka 1203.
NGHS offers both Science and Business Studies streams for students in grades 9 and 10. The school also hosts active units of BNCC, Scouts, and Red Crescent, providing students with opportunities for leadership and community service.

The school has a rich legacy, with its band group gaining national recognition during the 1960s. Notably, in 1966, the band was honored by Pakistan’s then-President Field Marshal Ayub Khan and Governor Monem Khan. During Bangladesh’s Liberation War, several students, including Jewel and Faizul Mintu, sacrificed their lives.
